Best fencing for a backyard garden?

I’m really interested in starting a vegetable garden in our backyard, but we live in a rural part of southern California, so I’m going to need a way to effectively keep out the squirrels, rabbits, and other critters that currently chew up our cacti. Something easy to set up would be best, and something on the cheaper side (we 15-year-olds aren’t well-known for our strength—or wealth) Thanks!(:
