I would keep texting him over break and tell him that you're really sorry you couldn't say bye to him, but you really wanted to and when he gets back from break, you want to get together! Like you said, he does sound really interested, so I would keep hanging out with him, going to dances, texting, etc, and see what happens. Good luck!!
